Four-sided isolation fence at least 48 inches high
Self-closing, self-latching gates that open outward
No furniture a child could climb near the fence
Door and gate alarms

Drains & equipment

Anti-entrapment (VGB-compliant) drain covers
No broken or missing covers
Safety vacuum release where required
Working pool alarms

Supervision & response

A designated, sober water watcher
Rescue equipment and a phone poolside
CPR-trained adults present
Clearly posted depth markings
